CRYOTHERAPY

What is Whole Body Cryotherapy?
Whole Body Cryotherapy is an amazing and natural way to achieve a variety of health benefits simply through the exposure of cold temperatures. Whole Body Cryotherapy is a hyper-cooling process where the skin is exposed to a temperature of -240 to -270 degrees Fahrenheit for about 3 minutes. At this extreme temperature, the body activates its natural healing processes and provides significant long-term medical and cosmetic benefits. As your body is exposed to the cold it reacts by undergoing vasoconstriction and centralizing blood around visceral organs. This oxygenates the blood as it becomes nutritionally rich and resupplies the body providing a boost of energy and healing properties.  Whether you are an athlete or anyone seeking better general health, we invite you to come and experience for yourself this unique treatment that provides relief, recovery, performance, and much more. Cryotherapy is now used across the globe by those young and old, including celebrities and many professional athletes.

Origins:
Whole Body Cryotherapy was developed in 1978 in Japan by Dr. Yamaguchi to treat rheumatoid arthritis patients. The rapid cooling of the outer layer of skin causes a rush of endorphins. This endorphin release caused his patients to have decreased pain sensitivity and soreness when the joints were manipulated. It was quickly discovered that the whole body cryo process of rapidly freezing the outer layer of skin  to 30 degrees in less than 3 minutes was far more effective and less damaging than ice baths which have a lowest temperature of 41 degrees and are used in excess of 30 minutes.

How Can I Stand the Cold?
There is no freezing involved, only the feeling of being cold. This process is simply cold air flowing over the surface of the skin which, in turn, creates the beneficial results. The air is completely dry and does not cool any muscular or dermal tissue like an ice bath would, making it surprisingly comfortable.

How Will I Feel Afterward?
During each session, the body releases endorphins, which are hormones that make you feel good and energetic. Pain and inflammation are decreased and you will also burn 500 calories or more per session, due to the body’s increase in metabolic rate, so you may feel a spike in your appetite shortly following your session. You are also your most flexible within the first hour after each session so you will see immediate improvement in your range of motion.
